learning tamil - expanding tamil language

As MissPot is learning Tamil formally now we spend time learning colors and other objects. The other day we went through colors in tamil and she learnt that "Orange" is "Aarange". Then we learnt fruits and she learnt that "Apple" (think of a kutti american girl accent) is " Aapil" (kutti tamil girl accent).

Fast forward today as MissPot was helping cut veggies for the dinner. She was cutting zucchini (thanks to Mami's bday gifts) and I was carrot. She asked me "amma - what is carrot (a noticeably american accent) called in Tamil"? So I explained to her on how things that are not native to that region of India have retained their original name hence carrot is a carrot (the "ca" sound as in "can" ). She paused for a minute and said "Amma why don't we call it "Caaarot" (the "ca" sound as in "car") for tamil then instead of carrot.
Good idea... sounds like aapil, aarange, now caarot
