my kutti karandi naaazi

you know how babies love the sound of a dishwasher unloading. Well J is no different.

He loved checking out the contents of the dishwasher and so to amuse him (and to keep my work of unloading uninterrupted) I would give him a karandi (spatula) and he would go around the house thrilled to bits - his favorite spot - attack karavapalai pot and stir up the mud with the karandi.

Anyway - so this has become an obsession and any karandi will no longer do. Depending on his need (i.e. mood) he will choose between stainless steel, wood or non-stick and the size and shape of said karandis. If he is not happy with what is on hand he will come right back to me and scream with his mouth wide open until I do a 'fair' exchange and preferably with one in each hand he will walk away.

In the past couple of days the obsession has entered a new phase - he wants the exact same karandi that I am using to cook - not just any other one. Also if I am using a sautee pan with a long handle he things that is a karandi and insists on wanting that. His height is starting to be an advantage for him - so he will extend his hand and try to reach the handle. Stove guard here we come - this boy is trouble!

Pssst, Jayanth-Paapa, my littlest pillow, please swipe Amma's dosai tiruppi. Then either give it to me or hide it completely so Amma will have to buy herself another one, and while she is at it, can buy me one. Thanku :)
